This year, many of our nonprofit partners have experienced an increased need for their services and programs. Specifically, those providing food, mental health, and homelessness services are feeling the growing challenge to step up and help our neighbors in-need.
To answer this challenge, the Moline Regional Community Foundation has provided more than $1.5 Million in grants and community support. This ongoing, essential, local generosity is possible due to the hundreds of individuals and organizations who established endowments.
We are grateful for the more than 120 partner funds designed to help with our regions greatest needs now, and in the future. These funds are what truly make our mission of improving the quality of life of our community possible.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy, holiday season.

We are also happy to announce; the Moline Regional Community Foundation has awarded $379,000 in Grants to 52 area nonprofits. These Grants were made possible through the efforts of local Quad Citizens who chose to invest in our community. Here are a few examples of how these Grants will be used in our region.
Family Resources, Inc. is the only provider of comprehensive, community-based services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, homicide, and human trafficking in the Quad Cities Region. This grant awarded to Family Resources will fund holistic, trauma-informed services to address the immediate and long-term needs of over 300 survivors of violence in our community. Family Resources services include advocacy, counseling, shelter/housing, transportation, and case management.
River Bend Food Bank’s grant will be used for a new Working Smarter program. With this new program, River Bend Food Bank will install survey software at feeding sites to collect information about food insecurity from visitors. This new information will be used to develop preventative strategies to reduce the number of people who become food insecure. This new program will also upgrade River Bend’s system to reduce the amount of food lost to mis-shipments and spoilage. Working Smarter will also ensure more food is distributed to people in need.
SAL Community Services Foundation is using their grant for the creation of a new intergenerational early learning center in the West End of Rock Island. This project supports construction of a new Skip-a-Long Childhood Center adjacent to the Friendship Manor campus in Rock Island. This modern facility replaces our current aging campus which serves 192 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years, and brings together seniors and children for daily, enriching interactions. This new facility addresses the urgent childcare shortage, expands early education access, and strengthens community well-being by intentionally engaging seniors with young children.

As the end of the year approaches, you may have seen news reports about how new tax law changes may affect charitable donations. You may also be wondering how those tax laws will affect your giving to support the community you love
What is Bunching?
Bunching is a tax strategy which allows people and businesses to group future years’ contributions into a single year.
If you typically take the standard deduction, you could bunch a few years’ worth of donations into 2025 and then itemize when you file your return.
