Exciting things are happening next year! On January 1, 2025, the new, groundbreaking Illinois Gives legislation will go into effect, ensuring any Illinois taxpayer making a financial gift to an endowed fund at an accredited community foundation will be eligible for an additional 25% Illinois tax credit.
This legislation will be a huge game changer for Illinois-based nonprofits, inspiring and incentivizing permanent support for the nonprofits who work hard to improve Illinois residents’ quality of life. Few states offer such an opportunity, and we commend our legislators and community leaders for their commitment to the communities they serve.
You may support an existing MRCF endowment or work with your favorite nonprofit to establish one. Donations through this program can support general operations, programs, and capital endowments for charitable causes and nonprofit employers. Whatever you decide, you should start planning this fall to prepare for the 2025 tax credits.
On September 11, Moline Regional Community Foundation hosted an indoor Garden Party for the Garden Guardians. These incredible volunteers use proceeds from the Tom and Karen Getz Fund to beautify Ben Butterworth Parkway every year.
Thank you to our amazing garden-loving friends. Thank you to Mary Lind for your dedication to enriching the Ben Butterworth Parkway every year. Thank you to the volunteers for your hard work with planting, weeding, and nourishing their gardens (then even more challenging work planting after the flood). Thank you to City of Moline for your support, patience, and willingness to pick up the garden waste, bring mulch, and water the plants (Jason). Thank you to Kate Terrell, Wallace’s Garden Center, for choosing the best Mums for our display and giveaway. Look for mums planted along the Ben Butterworth Parkway when you walk, run, or bike on this beautiful path.
Moline Regional Community Foundation is proud to support this effort and happy to help dig in the dirt. We hope to see you all next fall!
Moline Regional Community Foundation (MRCF) offers opportunities to give to your community, including Field of Interest Endowment Funds. This option allows you to support an area you choose, anywhere from arts to education, instead of limiting yourself to a specific nonprofit. The field of interest can be as broad or narrow as you want. For example, if you wish to support the environment or conservation, we will find grants benefiting the environment and conservation. You decide the criteria, and we select organizations that align best with your intent.
Let’s Talk if you are looking for a unique way of giving!
