Congratulations to the thirty-five area nonprofit organizations who received $202,000!

Grants were awarded to Arts and Culture, Economic Development, Education, Environment, and Human Services organizations for capital and program needs.

The Moline Regional Community Foundation sincerely appreciates the donors who took action to improve our community’s quality of life.

An award ceremony was held at the Butterworth Center on Wednesday, June 6th, at 8:30 AM. The article below provides more information about each recipient and their programs.

“We are grateful to the Moline Regional Community Foundation for giving us the opportunity to expand our impact within the community. For 40 years, we have been serving Mercer County by providing support, advocacy, and education on domestic violence and child abuse. The generous gift from the foundation will allow us to broaden our efforts and reach even more people.” Kim Harrison, Executive Director, Mercer County Family Crisis Center.

Paul Plagenz, President/CEO of Moline Regional Community Foundation, reflected, “These grants are focused on improving our area residents’ quality of life through support of Arts and Culture, Economic Development, Education, Environment, and Human Services programs and capital needs. Generous financial support from our donors made these awards a reality and shows how giving in action can profoundly change lives.”

Spring Scholarships Recipients

Through the generosity of donors, the Moline Regional Community Foundation awarded thirty-six scholarships totaling $64,000 to twenty-nine graduating students. These students reflected exemplary leadership skills, academic excellence, and philanthropic aspirations. The awardees are professionals in every sense of the word and bring hope to the future of our community.

Harold P. Griffith Scholarship Endowment - Partner

Eighty-seven Moline High School National Honor Society senior members were awarded scholarships on April 11, 2024. The Moline High School National Honor Society Harold P. Griffith Scholarship Endowment, a Moline Regional Community Foundation partner fund, recognized the students. Each senior member received a recognition scholarship, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

“In honor of my father’s passion for education, in 2014, our Foundation Board started awarding one senior member of the MHS National Honor Society the Harold P. Griffith Scholar Award, now called the Harold P. Griffith Scholarship.” Jeff Griffith – Son.

One student, JathinRam Kollarapu, was awarded the prestigious Harold P. Griffith Scholarship, symbolizing academic excellence and leadership. Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character are the four pillars that determined the Harold P. Griffith Scholarship selection. JathinRam Kollarapu was awarded $1,000 annually over four years as the awardee, a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding qualities.

“Your education is the best investment that you can ever make.” Harold P. Griffith, 1916-2004, Teacher / Tutor and Founder of the Harold P. Griffith Chapter Moline High School National Honor Society Foundation. Harold and Mildred Griffith began awarding scholarships to straight-A students in 1982. Their giving in action legacy continues.
